We are so very thrilled and honored to be able to feature Lynda Bergman as our Artisan of the Week. I first found Lynda's beautiful work just a few short weeks ago while scouring the web for hand painted furniture designs. This gorgeous Shabby Dresser of her is was what caught my attention.
Then after visiting her blog and website I was hooked. Not only is she immensely talented, she is so very generous and freely answers questions and shares so many of her self taught techniques with her readers. Lynda has been repurposing furniture for 25 years now and describes her love of “old and distressed pieces”.
Lynda was repurposing long before it was a word on everybodies tongue. You may not believe this, but she has never even used chalk paint yet (of course her box of Poppie’s is in the mail to try).
Over the 25 years that Lynda has been repurposing she has taught herself many magnificent techniques as the photos show. Like many of you reading this her favorite thing to paint is furniture and she gets her pieces the same places as you do, garage sales, auctions and thrift. But in addition she gets commissioned to do remarkable works of art for many clients.
When I asked Lynda what her favorite piece she has ever done she told me she has many favorites, she stated that it was probably a claw foot bathtub that she painted a toile scene on. It is gorgeous just take a look at it!
So I know you all are dying to know what her favorite can’t live without supply in her studio is. “Primer”. She said she starts most of her projects with a primer first.
I hope that you have enjoyed meeting Lynda here. As always, I asked her what bit of wisdom can she offer to Poppie’s folks and this is what she said. “ I guess I would suggest knowing your products so you will know how to paint your piece so the finish will last a long time”.
