ERIN HURRY of Painted and Prayed - Painted Furniture Virginia
Poppie’s is so very thrilled to have Erin Hurry as our Repurposer of the week. We first meet on Facebook about a year ago and I immediately fell in love with her beautiful sweet loving spirit. I hope you enjoy our interview with Erin and please stop by her shop, Picked, Painted and Prayed n Fredericksburg, Virginia (our old stomping grounds) to see her beautiful works and found treasures in person. We promise you that you won’t be disappointed and will leave uplifted just for being in her presence.
Nancy: How long have you been repurposing furniture?
Erin: All my life. It started with my Mom who was always creative with home décor. As an adult I repurposed and created items out of need and budget and then started sharing these items for gifts. After being an entrepreneur and working in the corporate world for most of my life I decided to step back and write several books. This is when God gently nudged me to take pause and spend time with him. I then started to paint furniture and pray to Him everyday.
Nancy: How would you describe your style?
Erin: Free Style, anything goes and each piece asks for something else.
Nancy: What are your favorite pieces to repurpose?
Erin: Mirrors, step back hutches and sideboards. Beds not so much.
Nancy: Where do you get most of your pieces?
Erin: Thrift stores.
Nancy: What’s your favorite piece you ever created?
Erin: In my bedroom, I have a mid century tall chest that I painted bohemian style.
Nancy: What’s your favorite color?
Nancy: What supplies can you just not live without?
Erin: Hand sander, power screwdriver and most importantly the strength that is in God.
Nancy: Wax or Poly?
Erin: It depends on the piece.
